GLSFC, as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization was founded in 2003, with its mission to foster interfaith and intercultural dialogue and to provide a platform for education and information exchange in an integrating society. Basis of our mission is to facilitate dialogue by promoting love to transform hate, education to fight ignorance, understanding to prevent misinterpretation, flexibility against rigidity, tolerance to overcome bigotry and help the poor overcome poverty. The principal goal of GLSFC is to promote education and mutual understanding and spend efforts to find ways and more common ground among people of diverse nations, faiths and cultures. GLSFC will especially strive to preserve and promote Balkan culture, language and customs to protect the Balkan-American community from the damaging effects of ignorance, bigotry, fanaticism, extremism, fundamentalism and divisive deviations by highlighting their values which are consistent with that of contemporary United States of America. GLSFC will help to build sincere friendships by fostering interactions between the people of Balkan origin and/or ancestry and the American community. GLSFC wants to contribute to this ultimate aim by building educational, entertaining and sportive centers for Balkan Community and others, organizing family oriented events and academic conferences of mutual interest and others.
